You Fuse the commands on the Graphics menu to edit objects for example, to Malign, distribute, rotate, or reshape them. You can anchor graphics to text, c *so the graphics move along with the text. Help on graphics IFor information on the Tools palette, the commands on the Graphics menu, h Nand anchored frames, click an item in the topic list to the right or click an active area below. ^The palette contains the drawing tools , as well as controls for Wchanging drawing properties such as the pen and fill patterns, line width, and color. SThe Graphics menu includes for manipulating graphics, as well drawing aids . The commands and drawing aids also appear on the Tools t. palette. LThe Anchored Frame command creates and changes anchored frames. Graphics menu > Tools Palette where you choose drawing tools and drawing properties . You can ^Th Xalso display the Tools palette by clicking the Tools button ) on the right ph side of the document window. JThe Tools palette comes in two sizes small and large. To change the size, Mclick the zoom box. The large Tools palette contains all the features of the Tsmall palette as well as the that appear on the Graphics menu. Area on the palette where you choose selection tools that you use to Mselect text and objects, and drawing tools that you use to draw objects. For d Ainformation on a tool, click the tool in the illustration below. ITo draw several objects of the same type (except for text lines) without h Oclicking the tool each time, Shift-click a tool. To stop using the tool, click ang *another drawing tool or a selection tool. More@ Smart Selection Selects both objects and text. When the Smart 7Selection tool is active, the pointer changes shape as elo 0you move it, indicating whether you ll place an ob Oinsertion point in text ( ) or select an object ( ) when tim 2you click. To select text columns, text lines, or 6equations as objects when the Smart Selection tool is +active, Option-click the text or equation. Object Selection Selects only objects. When you click text with the 9Object Selection tool active, you select the text column :or text line as an object instead of putting an insertion point in the text. CNormally, FrameMaker activates the Smart Selection 4tool when you finish drawing an object. To keep the 6Object Selection tool active after drawing an object, %Shift-click it on the Tools palette. Draws a line at any angle. To draw a line, click the 4Line tool. Then drag along the path of the line. To 5draw a horizontal or vertical line or a line at a 45-a degree angle, Shift-drag. Draws a 90-degree arc. To draw an arc, click the Arc e +tool. Then drag along the path of the arc. 2To change the percentage of a circle that the arc 9represents, choose from the Graphics z menu. Rectangle Draws a rectangle or square. To draw a rectangle, 6click the Rectangle tool. Then drag diagonally across 0the area where you want it to appear. To draw a square, Shift-drag. More t Rounded Rectangle Draws a rectangle or square with rounded corners. /To draw a rounded rectangle, click the Rounded 5Rectangle tool. Then drag diagonally across the area 3where you want it to appear. To draw a square with to rounded corners, Shift-drag. 3To change the curvature (the corner radius) of the @corners, choose Object Properties from the Graphics menu. Polyline Draws a polyline. To draw a polyline, click the 9Polyline tool. Then click at each vertex of the polyline i /and double-click at the last vertex. To draw a 4horizontal or vertical segment or a segment at a 45- 'degree angle, Shift-click at a vertex. 3When you complete the polyline, FrameMaker 4displays reshape handles so you can reshape it. See Moreto Draws an oval or circle. To draw an oval, click the an 4Oval tool. Then drag diagonally across the area you zo 4want it to appear in. To draw a circle, Shift-drag. Polygon Draws a polygon. To draw a polygon, click the /Polygon tool. Then click at each vertex of the Se 6polygon, and double-click at the last vertex. To draw 4a horizontal or vertical segment, or a segment at a `@ *45-degree angle, Shift-click at a vertex. 2When you complete the polygon, FrameMaker 4displays reshape handles so you can reshape it. See shape 2To draw a regular polygon, first draw a square or >circle. Then choose Set # Sides from the Graphics menu. Freehand Draws a curve similar to ones you draw with a pen on t 7paper. Freehand curves in FrameMaker are drawn 4with B zier curves. To draw a freehand curve, click 3the Freehand tool. Then drag along the path of the ar curve. 6When you release the mouse button, FrameMaker 3displays reshape handles and control points so you 0can reshape the curve. See shape 9You may want to turn off when drawing a 4freehand curve. When Snap is on, FrameMaker /ignores the snap grid as you draw a curve, but 6locates the first point of the curve at a grid point. MoreDr Text Column Draws a text column. A text column can contain more 6than one line of text. Use text columns for multiline 4callouts, paragraphs of text, or any other text you 7want to wrap automatically from line to line. Also use 0text columns when you want to insert variables, 6cross-references, or markers in the text, or when you .want to include the text in a generated list. 3To draw a text column, click the Text Column tool. /Then drag diagonally across the area where you 4want it to appear. To type text in the text column, 7double-click to place an insertion point in the column and then type. Compare Line Moreth Text Line Draws a text line. A text line is a single line of text li 8that FrameMaker treats independently from other th 6text. Text lines grow or shrink in length as you edit 3them, but they don t wrap around to the next line. :To draw a text line, click the Text Line tool. Then click 9to place an insertion point and type. FrameMaker 5uses the last character format you typed or selected in the document. 7To create another text line below the first one, press Return and continue typing. !Compare Column Frame Draws an unanchored frame. Unanchored frames are 1attached to the page and do not move as you edit k 4text. Use unanchored frames to crop graphics and to se (keep reference art on a reference page. 1To draw a frame, click the Frame tool. Then drag 0diagonally across the area where you want it to ar 3appear. If you draw the frame on a reference page, 9the Frame Name dialog box appears so you can name the frame. $Compare Anchored Frame Dialog box where you name or rename a frame on a reference page. This Fdialog box appears when you draw a frame on a reference page. It also Happears when you select a frame on a reference page and click the frame t name in the status bar. 0The name of the frame. This name appears in the 3status bar when you select the frame. You use this -name when you include the frame as part of a >paragraph format (see Frame Above, Frame Below 3the Advanced Properties of the Paragraph Designer) *or when you create or update math element ;definitions (see Math Element Definition Two areas on the palette where you change the fill and pen patterns Mof objects and set the patterns to be used for new objects (the current fill T Nand pen patterns).
